Environmental Conservation & Climate Resilience
Large-scale reforestation and community-led land restoration that rebuild ecosystems and shield communities from climate shocks.
HEEDO is a women-led organization restoring land, growing green livelihoods, and putting women and youth at the center of climate action across Somalia and the wider Horn of Africa.
We address the place where climate change, environmental degradation and economic poverty collide — and we do it from the ground up.
Founded in 2018 and headquartered in Mogadishu, HEEDO works alongside internally displaced persons, rural producers, women and young people whose lives are most exposed to drought and flood. Our model is local, evidence-driven, and built to last beyond any single project.

We believe lasting change is built locally — by women, youth and rural producers leading the work themselves.

Women and young people lead governance, advocacy and enterprise, not just participate.
Monitoring, evaluation and accountability are built into how we plan and learn.
Every livelihood we build is designed to withstand the shocks of a changing climate.
